Safety Considerations: Ensure all participants are aware of where the balls are at all times.
Equipment: 2 balls (basketball, tennis ball, football, volleyball, beanbag...)
Pinnies
Objective:
For teams to throw and catch their ball quicker than the other team.
Set up:
Divide the group into 2 teams, and give one team pinnies to wear.
Select one captain for each team (make sure they are decent throwers and catchers).
Have the rest of the participants on each team number themselves off, starting at 1.
Step by Step:
1. The participants will all make a circle and the captains stand inside the circle.
2. The two number 1s from each team will stand opposite each other in the circle.
3. Number 2s on each team will stand to the right of number 1 on their team, but leaving enough space for a participant to stand between them.
4. Eventually the participants will have to stand between two participants on the other team.
5. When all participants are standing in the circle, a participant on team A, should not be standing next to another participant on team A. It should go team A, team B, team A, team B etc..
6. The two captains in the centre of the circle will stand back to back with a ball.
7. On the word 'Go', they will throw the ball to their number 1.
8. That participant will catch the ball and throw it back to the captain.
9. The captain will then throw it to their number 2, and they will throw it back.
10. The participants on the other team are not allowed to interfere with the other team's ball. Unless the captain throws it to the other team by accident, they can catch it and roll it back to the captain.
11. First team to throw the ball to all their participants and end back at number one first, wins!
12. Could play so they have to go around their circle two or more times.
Variations:
Have participants do a bounce pass or chest past (basketball), captain has to throw the ball up and participants have to volley or bump it back (volleyball), or have captain kick a soccer ball and participants have to trap it and then kick it back (soccer).
For every catch made, the team gets a point and for ever missed catch, the team loses a point. If they go around the circle before the othe team, they get 3 points.
Have two captains in the centre for each team, and they each have a different ball to throw.
Participants have to catch the ball with their right hand or left hand.

Adaptations (Blindness/Visual Impairment):
Use a ball with a bell inside it, or with a plastic bag tied around it so that participants who are blind or visually impaired can hear it. Consider allowing these participants to catch the ball on the bounce.
