Coordination
Set up:
Divide participants into 3-4 teams.
One participant from each team will start as the shuffler.
Each shuffler will stand between two rows of 3 pylons that are to their left and right. Each pylon will have a number, please see the attached document for an example of the set up and pylon numbers.
Optional: Write the numbers on pieces of paper and tape them to the pylons.
Ensure that each team's pylons are the same distance apart.
Place a beanbag at the centre of each team's pylons.
Step by Step:
1. One participant from each team will start as the shuffler and will stand at their group's beanbag between the pylons. Please see the attached document for an example of the set up.
2. The rest of the participants on each team will stand 10-15 feet away from the pylons. They will do a designated exercise while the shufflers do their shuffling (everybody's shufflin'). They can jog on the spot, do 20 jumping jacks, do 20 heel raises, 15 lunges and so on.
3. The leader will stand and face the shufflers.
4. To warm up the participants, the leader will say a number, and the shufflers have to shuffle* to that pylon, touch it, and shuffle back to the centre (beanbag).
5. *Shuffling: Participants have to shuffle their body sideways to the pylons.
6. When all participants are back in the centre, the leader will say another number and so on.
7. When the participants are warmed up and used to shuffling and going back to the centre, and know what number each pylon represents, the game can begin!
8. The leader will say a series of 3-5 numbers.
9. Then the leader will say "Go".
10. The shufflers will have to shuffle to the pylons in the correct order and return to the centre after they touch each pylon.
11. The leader(s) will have to pay attention to make sure that each participant touches the correct pylons and in the correct order. Or have other participants watching and making sure they do it in the correct order.
12. When they touch the last pylon, they shuffle back to the centre and sit down.
13. The last participant to sit down is out.
14. The final two participants stand up, and the leader will say a series of 3-5 numbers.
15. The same process occurs.
16. The last participant to sit down, loses that round.
17. The team to come in third gets 0 points, the team that came in second gets 1 point and the team that came in first gets 2 points.
18. If a participant does the wrong order, then they go to the centre and start again.
19. Another participant from each team becomes the shuffler.
20. Continue until all participants have shuffled for each team.
Variations:
Allow participants to run and not always shuffle.
Have 2 pylons on each side instead of 3.
Participants have to collect the pylons in the correct order (this will make it easier for the leader to know that participants went to each pylon in the correct order).
Have participants be the "pylons" and number them just like the pylons. The shuffler will have to go to the participants and give them a high five. After they get a high five, that participant has to do 10 jumping jacks.
Each shuffler has their own 6 pylons, and they have to knock them down in the correct order.
Place a beanbag on top of each pylon, and the shufflers have to collect the beanbags in the correct order.
