The Last Object

Skill: Jump
Time Required: 15
Activity Type: Physical, Transition
Group Size: Large Group, Medium Group, Pair, Small Group
Age Group: 6 - 9yrs, 9 - 12yrs, 13+ yrs
Play area: Gymnasium (large indoor space), Outdoor - Field
Safety Considerations: Remove any hazards from area.
Equipment: 15 beanbags or tennis balls or another object per 2 participants.
Objective:
Participants have to use strategy to be sure they don't take the last object.
Set up:
Have participants get into pairs.
Give each pair 15 beanbags (or another object)
Step by Step:
1. Have participants place the beanbags in 4 rows.
2. 1 in the first row, 2 in the second row, 5 in the third and 7 in the fourth.
3. The participants take turns taking as many beanbags from a row as they want, but they can only take from one row per turn. For example, they can take the one from the top row, all 7 from the fourth, or 3 from the fourth row. They cannot take 2 from the fourth row and 1 from the third.
4. However, before participants can take any beanbags away, they have to do the same number of jumping jacks as beanbags they are going to take away. Or they can do push ups, burpees, squats, lunges etc.
5. The participant who has to take the last beanbag away, loses.
6. Could change partners, or play again with the same partner.
7. Next time participants could: change the number of beanbags used, change the number of beanbags per row, change the number of rows, or all of these options.
Variations:
Do this with coins or other small objects, and place them on a table. No need to do any exercises before playing, but the same rules to win the game exist.
Have 3 participants in each group. Play the same way, taking turns taking beanbags away.
After a participant takes their turn, they have to run to a designated location and back.

Adaptations (General):
Encourage participants with disabilities to choose challenging activities which correspond with their strengths (e.g., a participant with a mobility limitation can likely perform push ups more readily than jumping jacks)
