Freeze Like...

Play area: Gymnasium (large indoor space), Outdoor - Field
Safety Considerations: Remove any safety hazards and obstacles from the activity area.
Remind participants to be aware of their surroundings and to keep their head up.
Equipment: No equipment necessary.
Whistle (optional).
Objective:
This activity can be used as a warm up or cool down. Participants will run or move around the activity space and then freeze like whatever the leader says (a soccer player, for example).
Set up:
Participants start scattered in an activity area.
Step by Step:
1. The participants start scattered around the activity area.
2. The leader will tell the participants to run/jog/skip/gallop around the area.
3. The leader will blow their whistle and the participants will freeze.
4. Then the leader will say "Freeze like..." and tell the participants to freeze in a certain way (see the list of ways to freeze below).
5. Encourage participants to be very creative when freezing.
6. After 5-10 seconds of freezing, the leader will tell the participant to move around the area in a certain way again.
7. Blow their whistle and tell them to freeze in another way.
8. Continue until participants are warmed up, or cooled down.

Variations:
Have the "freeze like..." freezes be in theme with sports, animals, the circus or any theme the leader and/or participants decide upon.
Have the freezes be pair or small group freezes.
