Objective:
Participants freeze in a scene that the leader says (playing football, for example) with a certain number of participants.
Other Skills:
Coordination
Set up:
Have participants start scattered in the activity area.
Step by Step:
1. The leader will tell participants to run/jog/skip/gallop/walk around the activity area.
2. The leader will then blow their whistle and participants will freeze.
3. The leader will then say a number and a scene participants have to freeze in (please see below for examples of scenes).
4. The number represents the number of participants that have to be in each "scene" (group).
5. If there are not enough participants for all groups to have the correct number, then one group or more will have one more or one less participant.
6. Groups could have to create the scene without speaking to one another, or the leader can give each group 30 seconds to speak and figure out how to freeze in the scene.
7. Participants can freeze like objects or anything they feel will go with the scene.
8. Encourage participants to be creative!
9. Once they freeze in the scene for 15-30 seconds, the leader will tell the participants to move around the activity area again and they will blow their whistle and say another number and scene.
10. Example of scenes to freeze in:
Freeze like...:
- A band with fans watching them play (some participants will be in the band and some can be the fans)
- Playing football (Participants could be on the same team or opposite teams, getting a touchdown, kicking a field goal and so on)
- At the zoo (Some participants could be animals and others could be people at the zoo)
- At the airport
- Fans at a baseball game
- Wizards at Hogwarts
- On a ride at an amusement park
- Water skiing (Participants could be in a boat and one or two could be water skiing)
- Skiing/Snowboarding
- Tobogganing
- Camping
- Cooking dinner
Variations:
Have participants be with the same pair or group each time.
Have participants come up with scenes.
Participants choose how big their groups will be.
One participant starts freezing and other participants join in and each freeze in the scene.
