Capture the Treasure

Play area: Gymnasium (large indoor space), Outdoor - Field
Safety Considerations: Remove any safety hazards.
Remind participants to always keep their head up and be aware of their surroundings.
When tagging, do not push, tag gently.
Make sure the participant is looking at the treasure if it is being thrown to them.
Equipment: 1 piece of treasure (beanbag, hat, tennis ball etc.)
Pinnies
Pylons or ropes (optional)
Objective:
Each teams tries to bring the treasure over their line.

Set up:
Divide the participants into two equal teams.
Give one group pinnies to wear, or something else to tell the teams apart.
Use the full length of the gym if indoors.
If outdoors, use pylons or rope to create two lines that are a fair distance apart.
Step by Step:
1. Have one team start at one line, and the other team start at the other line.
2. On the word 'Go!', the leader will throw the treasure into the middle of the play area.
3. Participants will run to pick up the treasure.
4. If a participant from team A picks up the treasure, and is tagged by a participant on team B, they have to drop the treasure and they are frozen.
5. They are frozen until a member of their team crawls unde their legs.
6. The treasure is then live where it was dropped, and any participant can pick it up.
7. Participants can throw the treasure to other team members, and the other team can try to intercept the pass as well.
8. Whenever a participant is holding the treasure and is tagged, they are frozen and have to drop the treasure.
9. The first team to run over their line with the treasure wins.
Variations:
Participants can only take 5 steps when they have the treasure before they have to pass it.
Any participant can be tagged, whether they have the treasure or not.
