Equipment: No equipment necessary.
Pylons or rope for boundaries (if necessary).
Objective:
For the participant that is It to try to tag another participant, while that participants is trying to not get tagged by linking arms with a pair of participants.
Set up:
Use the outside lines in the gym for boundaries or use pylons or rope to set up boundaries.
Select one participant to start as It, and another to start as the runner.
The rest of the participants will get into partners, scatter around the playing area and link arms with each other.
Step by Step:
1. Participants that are not It or the runner, should be scattered around the play area, linking arms with their partner.
2. With their outside arm, they will put their hand on their waist, so that another participant can easily link arms with them.
3. It and the runner will start across from each other.
4. On the word "Go!", the runner and It will start to run.
5. It is trying to tag the runner and the runner is trying to avoid getting tagged.
6. To avoid getting tagged, the runner can link arms with any participant, however, there cannot be three participants linking arms together.
7. So the outside participant is now the runner and they have to avoid getting tagged by linking arms with another participant.
8. When It does tag a participant, that participant becomes It and It becomes the runner.
9. The new It must give the new runner a couple seconds to get away before chasing them again.
10. Partners are allowed to move around, to get away from the runner. However, they always have to have their arms available to be linked on and always have to be linked to each other.
11. Participants cannot step out of bounds.
Variations:
Have groups of three instead of two.
Have more than one participant that is It and have them hold or wear something to signify that they are It.

Adaptations (General):
Encourage all players to be mindful of participants with disabilities and to emphasize safety, given the fast pace of this activity.
