Parachute Running in the Waves

Safety Considerations: Remove any safety hazards or obstacles in and around the parachute.
Play this game on the grass or on a soft surface.
Equipment: 1 parachute
Objective:
For one participant to run on the parachute, while the other participants sit down with the parachute and create waves.
Set up:
Have all participants spread out and sitting around the outside of the parachute.
Ensure the area underneath and around the parachute is soft (grass), and clear of any obstacles or safety hazards.
Step by Step:
1. Have all participants sitting around the parachute and holding onto it.
2. Have participants practice creating waves with the parachute by moving it up and down quickly.
3. The leader will call a participants name.
4. That participant will have to go on the parachute and walk/jump/hop/run around it with out falling.
5. The other participants will be creating the waves and sing a designated song (ABC's or Twinkle Twinkle Little Star), or count to a designated number, or each say their favourite colour/animal, the month of their birthday etc...
6. When they are done singing or doing the designated task, then the participant on the parachute gets off and goes back to their spot on the outside.
7. The leader will call another participants name.
8. Continue until all participants have an opportunity to go on the parachute.
Variations:
Provide tasks for the participant on the parachute to do when on there. Such as; hop like a bunny, do 3 jumping jacks, run on the spot, jump and spin in the air, hop on one foot and so on.
When and if a participant falls on the parachute, the participants will stop creating waves, and that participant's turn is done.
