Set up:
Use the whole gym, or a large outdoor space.
Place a beanbag in the middle of the area, and place the soccer ball on top of that beanbag.
Surrounding the beanbag and soccer ball, place 2-3 hoops and 2-4 cones. The hoops will represent "Penalty Break Out" and the cones will represent "One at a Time".
At one corner of the play area, set up the "Penalty Box" using cones or a rope.
Select one or two participant(s) to start as "it".
Step by Step:
1. The goal for "it", is to tag the participants and send them to the penalty box.
2. The goal for the other participants is to avoid getting tagged, and kick the soccer ball at the hoops and cones to free the participants that are in the penalty box.
3. When "it" tags a participant, they have to go stand in the penalty box. They could have to jog on the spot for the whole time they are in there, or do 5 squats when they first get into the penalty box, or another exercise.
4. Participants can run to the middle and kick the soccer ball (off the beanbag or not), towards a hoop or cone.
5. If the participant who kicked the soccer ball kicks it into a hoop, then all the participants in the Penalty Box are free.
6. If the participant kicks the soccer ball and it knocks over a cone, then the first participant that was put in the penalty box is free.
7. If the participant misses a hoop and cone, then they could have to go to the penalty box, or they have to put the ball back on the beanbag and cannot kick again until another participant has gone.
8. "It" is allowed to try to intercept the kick if there are more than 4 participants in the Penalty Box.
9. If they intercept the kick, then the participant that kicked it has to go into the Penalty Box.
10. Could play that when the soccer ball gets into a hoop or knocks down a cone, then the leader will take it out of play. The game will continue until all participants are tagged, or until all the hoops and cones are out of play.
11. Play for a set amount of time.
Variations:
Have two or more participants start as "it".
Have two or more soccer balls set up in the middle. Select one participant to guard the hoops and cones. They cannot tag any participants, but they try to stop the balls from hitting the cones and getting into the hoops.
Use foam balls, or use tennis balls and participants have to throw them in a hoop.
