Equipment: Rope/Skipping Rope/Scarves
Tape
Beanbags
Tennis Balls
Hoop(s)
Other equipment to make the happy face (or another object)
Objective:
Participants throw the "nose" (beanbag) as close to the designated "x marks the spot" on the happy face as possible.
Other Skills:
Coordination
Set up:
Using rope, create a big circle that will represent the shape of the head/face for the happy face.
Place two tennis balls for the eyes, a rope or scarf for the very happy mouth. Could also use rope/scarves to create ears and hair - be creative!
Using tape, place an 'X' where the nose should be on the face. The centre of the X, is the exact location of the nose (X marks the spot).
Each participant will have a beanbag (aka nose)
Use a rope or pylons to set up a throwing line/spot.
Set up a hoop somewhere around the happy face. This will be where the participant with the closest nose (beanbag) will stand.
Step by Step:
1. One at a time, participants will throw their beanbags trying to get it land on the 'X' on the face, where the nose belongs (as the beanbag represents the nose).
2. Participants can play rock, paper, scissors, or draw numbers to see who will throw first, or determine the order by going oldest to youngest, birthdays, height and so on.
3. The first participant will throw their beanbag standing at the throwing line.
4. No matter where it lands, they will be the closest to the X as they were the first to throw.
5. They will go stand in the hoop that is near the happy face. Whoever is standing in that hoop will have the closest beanbag (nose) to the middle of the X.
6. The next participant will now throw their beanbag.
7. If they get it closer to the X, then the first participant will collect their beanbag and leave the hoop. That participant will have to do 5 burpees after they collected their beanbag. The second participant will now stand in the hoop.
8. If the second participant's beanbag is further from the X, then they will run and collect their beanbag and they will have to do 5 burpees, and the first participant will remain in the hoop.
9. Play until each participant has thrown their beanbag one time.
10. Whichever participant is in the hoop at the end, wins!
11. For the next round, participants could have to throw a tennis ball at an X that represents one of the eyes.
Variations:
Participants could have to throw a football at the happy face that will represent an ear, or a bow tie.
Throw a frisbee that can represent an ear or earring.
Create a snowman using rope/scarves, and participants have to kick a soccer ball to represent one of the snowman's buttons, or roll a foam ball.
Have two hoops sets up for the two closest participants.
Have multiple X's placed around an area. Participants will be in groups, and each participant gets one or two beanbags. They have to communicate as a team to decide which participant is going for which X. The group that has the most beanbags that are close to the Xs, wins. If one group has two beanbags that are closest to one X, it only counts as 1.
